Carry the message?
We hear the maxim—Carry the message—often when two or more of us meet or at meetings and most certainly in format readings. Our 12th Step states, "Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to addicts, and to practice these principles in all our affairs." Our 5th Tradition tells us, "Each Group has but one primary purpose - to carry the message to the addict who still suffers."
Cool. But exactly what is the message?
The message, as we understand it, is a program of recovery and a design for living that really works as offered in our basic text — affectionately known to us as the Big Book.
In keeping with our theme, the program this year is devoted to shining a light on chapters from the Big Book. Also we will offer useful and informative programs about Cocaine Anonymous and its service legacy and structure. We will explain how and why these are integral to recovery, a happy joyous & free life, and to our primary purpose - to carry the message. And yes, there will be plenty of good old-fashioned 12 Step meetings as well as live entertainment, a dance and a Saturday night banquet—"we are not a glum lot", "we absolutely insist on enjoying life!"
Who's it for?
Cocaine Anonymous is ever inclusive - and, despite it's name - is not a drug specific fellowship. Anyone seeking recovery from drug or alcohol addiction will feel at home here.
Why should you go?
Conventions are a great way to learn a lot more about the program of recovery from addiction to all mind altering substances including alcohol, and to meet other recovering addicts & alcoholics from all over Holland and around the world. Come join us in this gathering of fellows. Share with us in a weekend of fun, friendship, education—most often gaiety, occasionally tears of discovery & tears of joy—but nonetheless a powerful experience you won't want to miss.
